      Male, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Member of the Third World Academy of Sciences(TWAS), current Director of the Institute of Computing Technology(ICT), Chinese Academy of Sciences.
      Professor Li was born in May 1943 in Shaoyang, Hunan Province. He graduated from Peking University in 1968; got his Master of Engineering Degree from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1981 and Ph.D. Degree from Purdue University, U.S.A. in 1985. He worked at the CSL Laboratory of Illinois University, U.S.A. between 1985 and 1986. In 1987, he came back to China and worked with ICT, CAS. Since 1989, he has been a professor at ICT. In 1990, he was appointed by the State Science and Technology Commission as Director of the National Research Center for Intelligent Computing Systems (NCIC) in China. 
      In the past years, Professor Li Guojie successfully led the research and development of Dawning-1 parallel computer, Dawning-1000 massively parallel processing systems (MPP), Dawning-2000 & Dawning-3000 super server. Under his leadership, ICT successfully developed Loongson high performance general purpose CPU and Dawning-4000 super server. He presided over the IPv6 network research, a key project of CAS. Dawning-1 won the Special Award for Scientific and Technological Advancement by CAS in 1994, and the second class Award for State Science and Technology Progress in 1995; Dawning-1000 won the Special Award for Scientific and Technological Advancement by CAS in 1996, and the first class Award for State Science and Technology Progress in 1997. Dawning-2000 and Dawning 3000 won the second class award for State Science and Technology Progress in 2001 and 2003 respectively.
      Professor Li Guojie focuses on the research of computer system architecture, parallel algorithm, artificial intelligence, etc. He published more than 100 papers. At present, he is the Chief Editor of Journal of Computer Science and Technology, and Council Chairman of China Computer Federation (CCF).
      Professor Li Guojie won the first He_Liang_He_Li Foundation Award for Scientific and Technological Advancement in 1994, was elected as one of the State Level Middle-Aged & Young Experts with Outstanding Contributions in 1995, won Wang Danping Award in 1998, was elected as one of the “Most Advanced Workers” throughout the country in 2000, won the Award for Outstanding Achievement upon the 15th Anniversary of National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program) in 2001, and Outstanding Alumni Award of Purdue University in the same year. 
      Professor Li Guojie was Deputy to the 9th and 10th National People's Congress. He has been Board Chairman of Dawning Information Industry Co., Ltd since 1995 and Director of the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, since 2000.
