Dr. Xuehai Hong is a professor and doctoral advisor at the Information Technology Strategy Research Center and the Distributed System Research Center at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICT-CAS). He serves as the executive deputy director of the Information Technology Strategy Research Center. He is also a part-time professor and doctoral advisor at the Computer Network Information Center, CAS. His past appointments include the deputy director of the Scientific Research Division and the director of the Large Project Office at ICT-CAS, the assistant director of Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, and the director of the Bureau of Planning and Strategy, CAS. He has led more than 30 projects including the National Science and Technology Major Project (02 special), State High-Tech Development Plan (the 863 Program), the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Science and Technology Support Program, National Key R&D Program, CAS Information Engineering, etc. He has undertaken, either collaboratively with Jieguo Li or independently, more than 20 projects in national information technology focusing on integrated circuits, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things(IoT), etc. His research has won Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards three times, and has been published in over a hundred academic papers. His co-authored books include Computer Interface Technology, China to 2050 Information Technology Development Roadmap, Cultivation and Development of the New Generation of Information Technology Industry, Basic Supporting Technology and Environment for the Development of "Internet+", Smart City Information Environment and Big Data, National Innovation - Intelligent Trend for Intelligent Society and so on.
Dr. Xuehai Hong is an outstanding initial member of the China Computer Federation (CCF) and a member of the executive committee of High-Performance Computing (CCF TCHPC). He serves on the editorial board of Frontier of Data and Computing Development and World Scientific and Technological Research and Development.
