Mission
The Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICT) is a leading research institution in computer science and technology in China. Its mission is: To advance scientific discoveries and technological innovations in computer science and technology, and to contribute to China's economic development and social sustainability.

History
Founded in 1956, ICT has played a pivotal role in the development of China's computer industry and information technology. It developed China's first general-purpose digital computer, and became the R&D base of China's high-performance computers. China's first general-purpose CPU chip was also born here. ICT has nurtured hundreds of China's earliest computer technology professionals, and more than 20 academicians have worked or studied here. It has also incubated high-tech enterprises such as Lenovo, Dawning, Loongson and Cambricon, which have impacted various industries such as manufacturing, finance, education and health care. In the past 60 years, ICT has won 248 national, academy, municipal and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards, including 55 national-level scientific and technological awards.

ICT is also committed to talent development and education. It has hosted the School of Computer Science with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), which offers undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs in various fields of computer science and technology. ICT has cultivated more than 6,000 graduates since 1960, many of whom have become leading experts and scholars in academia and industry. It has established partnerships with many universities and colleges in China and abroad, and has provided training and guidance to thousands of students and researchers.
