As early as the 1950s, the first generation State leaders of our country foresaw the importance of information technology, and therefore established the Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences by adopting State Emergency Measures. Over the past 50 years, ICT has been making historical contributions to the nation. The rapid development of IT technology and knowledge economy in the 21st century offers a valuable chance for the Institute to further develop itself. 
  Under the new circumstances, ICT will implement CAS’ new-era guidelines, enhance innovation and creativity in key technologies, and mobilize resources for strategic research projects. In the light of national strategy and market demands, it will beef up its efforts to make significant contributions in strategic, forward-looking and fundamental innovations, provide technical support for the sound and rapid development of China’s IT industry, and play a leading role in the march towards independent innovation and the construction of an innovative nation. So long as we adhere to the goals of “Top-Class Staff and Management, Outstanding Achievements and Efficiency”, build up “Innovative Staff, Culture and Environment”, and carry out the development strategy of “Leaping and Sustained Development”, ICT will undoubtedly live up to the expectation of the whole nation and achieve greater success.
